Beech Dinner Plate #13
Crafted from a fallen Exmoor beech tree
This plate was turned by hand from a great beech tree that once stood beside my workshop on Exmoor. When Storm Darragh brought it down, I chose to honour its life by transforming the timber into objects for daily use — each one carrying forward the tree’s quiet strength.
The beech’s smooth, pale grain glows warmly, revealing the story of its long years of growth. Every plate is unique, shaped slowly on a traditional pole lathe using only human energy and simple tools.
Holding it connects you to the rhythm of making and to the woodland it came from — a reminder of nature’s cycles, resilience, and beauty in renewal.
⌀310×30mm
